Daryl & Fitz

Last year's "Fitz & The Tantrums" release is a record that keeps on giving. I think I may invent a loophole that allows me to place it on this year's year-end "Best Of" list.  This performance from Daryl Hall's brilliant internet show really needs to be seen to experience the excitement. It's more fun than most of us deserve. (Apologies to those who do indeed deserve more fun.) You can watch it HERE!

But you can listen to it all with the zip.

SET LIST
Pickin' Up The Pieces
Breakin' the Chains Of Love
Dear Mr. President
Perkiomen
Girl I Love You
MoneyGrabber
Sara Smile

It was Live From Daryl's House that introduced me to Fitz -- but it was Burningwwod that turned me on to Daryl Hall's webcast.

I still don't understand the web economics -- those are some serious production values and I can't imagine how many t shirts and old Hall and Oates records a show will sell. Still ... I leave the money to others. MoneyGrabber indeed!

That show is so full of fun it always makes me jealous of those talented musicians obviously having such a blast.

Here in the UK, they've just shown the Hall and Oates 'Behind The Music' doc. Dang! - those guys had a lotta hits. Good tunes too. Now I don't feel so bad about seeing 'em live sometime in the 80s. Is there a group I can join where I can discuss Pop-Soul lite amongst friends....

Totally agree about Fitz - this band smokes! Thanks for the zip! Randy

Glad you finally caught up with the episode. One of the better episodes. 'Sara Smile' was kind of rough owing to Noelle Scaggs' vocals although she was a fine compliment throughout the rest of the set.

I don't know why Fitz and the Tantrums had not gotten my attention but they certainly have it now. Great stuff.

@Rushbo - I agree about the Hall & Oates "Behind the Music", I was glued to the whole episode. I'd never denied liking Hall & Oates, but watching that episode made me realize I REALLY like Hall & Oates. Maybe it is because I likely heard Sara Smile while in the womb or maybe it's simply because it's damn good.

Added to my "Want List": Fitz and the Tantrums and as much Hall & Oates as I can get my hands on.

Thanks for the zip!

Sal, this is part of the reason I weighed in during your recent Bret Favre moment to say, dude, don't leave the building! This stuff is only happening here on your blog. Other blogs are, I guess, too "cool" to feature all the great music Daryl Hall has now associated himself with... and here now you've introduced me to a new act I'd never even heard of, these Tantrums... I will check them out!

Has Daryl ever had Southside Johnny on his show? What a matchup that would be......

The LFDH webcast is a master class in tight video editing while conveying real spontaneity. I also have no idea how they can afford to do it. There must be some secret formula involved ...

Another mighty fine episode of LFDH. I hadn't heard of this band so you have introduced me to another fine outfit. Sarah Smile is possibly my favourite H & O song. My niece is called Sarah and I used to play this to her when she was young; always brought a smile.

I checked out this band after reading about them here, then passed word to my brother who then went to see them play at a club in Madison, WI. He said the band hung around after the show to talk to anyone and everyone. He got to toss back a few brewskis and chat music with the band for quite some time.

Thanks for this! Fitz and The Tantrums is one of my favorite new bands. They do a swell version of "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" that's available on their site (fitzandthetantrums [dot] com) for a measly two bucks.
