Watch as much of this as you can before wanting to stick a Phillips-head screwdriver into both eyes and eardrums, then list all the things wrong with it.
At first I thought it was a "Shreds" video. Back in the late '70's, one of my music geek friends went off the rails and made me listen to his new favorite artist, Gino Vanelli. I have never forgiven him. This was not as bad as I expected, but the lead bass got old, and the fake country accent he's adopted was really off-putting.

o Gino. needs more bare chest.
Haters gonna hate eh?
Listened to the whole thing, (and I don't like jazz) but, I wanted to see the express purpose you would post an 8 year old video to dis on.
Sounds like all the other 'white mans jazz' I've been subjected to over the years.
Do you maybe just not like Gino?
His voice has held up remarkably well I think.........

A friend was looking for something from the same fest and found this. He sent it to to me. First I'm seeing it.
I have nothing against Gino personally. Actually liked his 80's hit Black Cars at the time.
This is not jazz.
No argument on the 'not jazz' comment
but maybe you could enlighten the less sophisticated listeners among us on the perceived wrongs you've found here

Looks like Gino, just before stepped up to sing, had just gotten off from his job as a file clerk at H&R Block.
Not out and out horrible and in some ways that makes it worse. Anyone can be incompetent, but this is competent crap.
But when the Celtics win (which is happening surprisingly often) "Gino" dances, so it gets a pass.
it's the bass, isn't it? That sound drives me nuts...
does the bass players shirt count?
It could have been worse. It could have been The Rolling Stones' song.
good point, that's what I thought it was gonna be
I think the light show behind them is even worse than the music. But yeah, that Weather Report—inspired bass playing is really annoying.
As a jazz loving Jakarta resident, all I can say about this is that I'm glad I missed this.
Come to think of, I rarely bother with Java Jazz. I really couldn't stand 3 or more days of similar blandness.
