Today's "Song Of The Day" is an old Yardbirds classic. Except that it isn't a Yardbirds classic like I've been thinking my whole life. It's a tune written by Mike Hugg and cut by The Original Emotions. Mike Hugg went on to fame as a co-founder of Manfred Mann.
I wish I had more to add. I don't. Just surprised to find this version, which I don't mind at all.

Sal, are you sure this recording predates The Yardbirds' version? I have to be skeptical that this recording was out first.
Since The Yardbirds' version was only an album track is it possible The Original Emotions decided to their recording as a single?

Well it was written by Mike Hugg so I can't imagine some garage band getting a song to the Yardbirds to record before they would record it themselves.
Jimmy Page strikes again?
Sal, I'm not clear what you are saying.
Are you saying Mike Hugg was in The original Emotions?

Apparently, I don't know what I'm saying. I was surprised to find the tune and should have left it at that. I think you're onto something Captain Al.
The instrumental break is garage band crazy, best part of the song, I love it. A drum solo!
Back in the sixties up here in Rockland County every garage band played "Better Man Than I". It was a rite of R&R passage.
