My friend Tommy Keene passed away about a week ago. He leaves behind a wonderful batch of songs. Tommy was the real deal and a great character. I will surely miss him. His brother, Bobby, has written a beautiful remembrance on Tommy's website. It's well worth the read: http://tommykeene.com

Did Shohei Ohtani sign with anyone yet?

Wow... Mr. Baez, thank you for sharing that, it is deeply powerful. I was shocked to hear about Tommy Keene's death a few days ago - only 59, and seemed for the world like the model of good health. I love his music. Unfortunately, he was always underappreciated by the masses, but his Townshend-like riffs, mixed with a highly melodic music, was the soundtrack for many of my long runs and bike rides.

I bought his most recent album on vinyl from a store in Atlanta, and was told by a clerk, "You're my hero for buying this... it's the first one we've sold." That was pretty soon after it came out, but still... he was the type of artist who was so good, you wanted others to know and appreciate him too. Rest in peace.

Speaking of heroes; Sal, you're one of mine.... for your generosity and dedication in keeping this site, this community going for so long.
Yes the world seems to be turning to shit lately, but it's been in worse shape and always comes back stronger than ever, often with music leading the way. And with people like you helping it along.
I know my tastes are broader and better thanks to you and Buzz and the many others who contribute.
Looking forward to a resumption of normal service soon.

PS; there's a re-mastered "Love and Theft" out now. Supposedly strips away Lanois' overkill production and gets back to basics with superb results. Can't wait to hear it. Can't wait to hear your opinion ... can "Mississippi" be even better?

Dear unknown:
They did such a good job of stripping the Lanois overkill production off of Love and Theft that NOW it never was produced by Lanois at all. It's been wiped out of history, reality, and all of our memories. You might be thinking of Time Out Of Mind ( Or Oh Mercy) Dylan produced Love and Theft himself under his Jack Frost pseudonym. Just FYI

"Daniel Lanois’ deliberately arty, diffuse production has retreated into the mist, replaced by an uncluttered, resonant production that gives Dylan and his ace backing band room to breathe. "
That's a quote from Exystence's summary/review of the Love & Theft reissue, and being too lazy to check, I took it at face value. But thanks for putting me right, Zippy. It's possible the reviewer just expressed himself so clumsily that he inadvertently maligned Lanois, and I was only too eager to pass it on.
Good to have you back, Sal.
