Did you know that Paul McCartney isn't playing bass on "She Said, She Said?" It is George Harrison on bass. Did you know that Paul isn't on "She Said, She Said" at all? I only just found this out. How did I not know this? And, for reasons I will never be able to explain or fully understand, the idea that this incredible song with those crazy time changes is just John, George and Ringo, really blows my mind.
I don't have much else to say at the moment.
This was your "Pre-Christmas, Sal Has A Head Cold And Can't Think Straight" Beatle Post of The Day.

Wow. And I think George was playing a Burns of London bass, which is very cool because I used to have one too.😀
News to me....
I have a vinyl album from waaaay back in the day and it's got Lennon singing "Her Majesty", and changing the words a bit. I've never seen it pop up anywhere since. Have you?
Huh. Is that in Lewisohn's "Recording Sessions" book? Feels like it'd have to be. I read that book multiple times but I guess I forgot. Either that or it's just a rooom-ahhh.
Peter,
I saw it as some clickbait post on Facebook, and then checked my Ian McDonald book, Revolution In The Mind.
Reefer,
Don’t know John’s Her Majesty.
get a cold more often if this is how the rest of us benefit. or as we old jews say "who knew"
Could Reefer be referring to John doing his piss-take on Maxwell's Silver Hammer, which does exist? As does Paul's take on I'm So Tired.

Just earlier today'she said she said" started falling out of my guitar as i farted around with an odd tuning - "oh look whats suddenly plainly right there" like finding a $10 bill in your pocket. BUT! I simply could not play the melody notes in the right order twice in a row. My hand didn't fit around it, and mybe due to the tuning there were no patterns/shape to the phrases. It was makin me nuts. I could stumble though 1 line and then have to stop, a bit lost. It didnt even occur to me to try a normal tuning. doh
From "Revolution In The Head":
"With help from Harrison on vocal harmonies and lead guitar, Lennon pulls off a last-minute coup with this track, going some way towards evening up the score in his ongoing competition with McCartney, who, following an argument in the studio, does not appear on this track."
Lennon- vocal, rhythm guitar, Hammond organ
Harrison-backing vocal, bass, lead guitar,
Starr- drums, shaker
After reading about and listening to mountains of evidence, I believe Paul did not play on the track because he was dead. He "blew his mind out in a car, had not noticed that the lights had changed"; the primary evidence is when the new Paul was arrested in japan for the pot thing and they tried to match his fingerprints with those he had taken in germany in 1962, they did not match, a high level british agent had to go bail him out.
How did I not know this? I have to listen closely with new ears. It's always been a favorite.
I did know that (saw it on SHF a couple of years back). I just learned that Lennon was playing bass on Helter Skelter, however. I'm guessing George didn't play on that one at all.
