No Excuses-Alice In Chains
I have a folder in my iTunes library titled "Sal." It holds just about every MP3 in existence of me on drums or vocals with the various bands I have played in, dating as far back as 1978. One of these bands covered this Alice In Chains song and it wasn't half bad. My version popped up on shuffle, but this one is much better.

Give The Man A Hand- The Left Banke
I play the Left Banke's debut almost as much as I play The Who Sell Out. (Just typing "The Who Sell Out" makes me want to hear it.) I decided to give "The Left Banke, Too" a chance. This one comes from that one.

Scream Like A Baby- David Bowie
I've tried. Lord knows, I've tried. But I just don't love the "Scary Monsters" album. I can deal with about half of it and this track is in that half.

I Am The Storm- Blue Oyster Cult
BOC, like Thin Lizzy, is a band that I feel is terribly misunderstood. More people should love both these bands. I gave "Mirrors" a spin and man, it really held up. This is from Side Two.

Pretty Pink Rose-Adrian Belew & David Bowie
Felt like hearing it.

Dearest-Buddy Holly
Felt like hearing it.

Sulphur To Sugarcane- Elvis Costello
May I suggest giving "Secret, Profane and Sugarcane" another shot, if you dismissed it on first listen ten years ago? It might not be as wonderful as "King Of America," but it really is a great record. This is from that album.

And why would a drummer possibly interested in the Alice In Chains song? :-)

Now should I listen to The Left Banke ... or The Who ... or both!

Have a great weekend Sal.

Nicely zipped up, many thanks. While I'm a big fan of Lizzy, for some reason could never get into BOC unlike a mate who's a fan of both & who tends to berate me over my BOC-lite appreciation of tunes like "Don't Fear the Reaper". Anyway, I do like the track featured here - so ya boo sucks to him! Thanks again. Cheers!

Sal, I noticed you're listening to Kate Bush - The Red Shoes. I cant' say I remember you ever posting an opinion about Kate before. Just curious about what you have to say about her.

Huge fan here though The Red Shoes is probably my least favorite of hers.

Randy,
Love Kate! And love Red Shoes! Might be Top 3 after Hounds and Kick.

Amen on Kate! Love Red Shoes too. But it was one I had to revisit years later after not liking it originally.

RE "Dearest-Buddy Holly: Felt like hearing it." Darn good reason! I have many friends who listen to Buddy Holly's music on February 3rd, and not only because I put it in front of them. A specific few listen to it throughout the calendar year. "I'm Gonna Set My Foot Down" turned up on my phone on Saturday morning, and I hit 'repeat' a couple of times while driving. Felt like it.
