Peter Brewis of Field Music, whose records have been intriguing me for years now, and Sarah Hayes, whose records with the band Admiral Fallow have completely escaped me, have teamed up for a project called You Tell Me. I read a favorable review in Mojo Magazine and was moved enough to make a purchase and I am happy to say, You Tell Me has been on very heavy rotation for a week now.
Field Music's brand of chamber pop with its unique twists and turns is now woven together with Hayes feel of folk and prog and what unfolds on You Tell Me's just released debut is at times like Fairport Convention meets King Crimson meets the Left Banke.
I've selected a few choice cuts for you to sample.

Hello al...no, please remain seated
Very nice. I especially liked Clarion Call. As you point out, there's a Fairport vibe going on there.
Best...RichD
Good call young fellow my lad!
remind me a little of Wye Oak, but with a lot more variety.
Thanks for the suggestion - really like it. Have you tried Tracyanne and Danny?

Ooh, I like these songs very much. Yes, a strong Fairport Convention feel to the songs, especially the two with the female lead. Also reminds me a bit of the Annie Haslem incarnation of the group Renaissance. I come here, Sal, for my musical education and got a nice dose of it today...grazie.
Thank you so much for this share, Sal. I listened to the album this past weekend based solely upon it being listed under your ‘Now Playing’. Another outstanding recommendation, sir.
I like it. Field Music has been an off and on relationship. Sometimes I think their music is some of the most intriguing pop music with all the twists and turns sounding exciting. Other times not so much like they are trying too hard to be different. This is a little more refined and follows a more traditional approach to pop music.
