Fire Engine- 13th Floor Elevators
We lost Roky Erickson last week, so I had to play some Elevators.

Rainy Day- APB
When this track was released, it would get played on WLIR-FM a relentless number of times a day. I haven't been able to get it out of my head, thanks to the recent spate of wet weather here.

One Way Love- Bryan Ferry
Someone mentioned Ferry's "Alphaville" and "Frantic" records on the Roxy Music post last week. I happened to love this cover from those sessions.

Just Before You Leave- Del Amitri
Another band that was mentioned this week in the comments section. This track comes from their last studio album to date, the not very good "Can You Do Me Good?" But I love this opener. Now that's a groove.

Policeman- Caravan
The debut from Canterbury's Caravan has been on heavy rotation. This is one of those bands that had eluded me for years. I've tried to dig in to some of the more popular records, but none stuck quite like the first album.

Man Of The World- Fleetwood Mac
One of Elvis Costello's favorite songs and one of my mine.

Allons Rock N Roll- Lil' Band O'Gold
I wanted something to segue into the mini Dr. John tribute set, and this one from the Traveling Wilburys of Lafayette, Louisiana felt just right.

God's Sure Good- Dr. John
It's All Over Now- Dirty Dozen Brass Band w/ Dr. John
Those Lonely Nights- Dr. John
Qualified- Dr. John
I Walk On Gilded Splinters- Dr. John
Craney Crow- Dr. John
What Comes Around- Dr. John
Mardi Gras Day- Dr. John

Sal,

I'm digging the SOTW and today is the perfect day for Rainy Day.

The Dr. John songs are really special. He is one of those artists who doesn't fit well into the three minute pop song. We really need a curated sampler like yours. Well done and thank you!
