This.
Pete Townshend, live at the Fillmore, 1996.
Oh, oh
Oh, oh
I miss you, I miss you
I remember lying by your side
Up in the eerie waters of paradise
N' then one day you walked out
Now I have nothing to do but shout
And I want my voice
To cut over mountains
And I want my soul
To gush up like fountains
To where you reside

I've always loved this song. Pete is pretty remarkable in a solo setting.
Nice post!

Wow I had forgotten how good that song and album was.
Thank you Sal!

he can write gorgeous melodies...
Never saw this album before... is it all this great?
Ken D,
There are three Townshend live sets- Fillmore 1996, The Empire 1998, Sadler's Wells 2000--all were available on his website, EEL PIE, at one time. All are spectacular.
Three live sets you say? Sounds like ample material to form the basis of an expansive "Pete Live Weekend Mix," no?
Will anyone second the motion?
Forgot to mention... saw the Rails last night. (just the pair, acoustic, no band). Simply wonderful.
(Teddy T. joined for an encore of "Goodnight, Irene.")
Crikey, but that's spooky! I'm on page 502 of Townshend's "Who I Am" which I finally got round to reading after 6 or 7 years of owning it (I think you rated it highly when you read it). And a jolly good tome it is too - highly addictive (a good choice of word considering Pete's various predilections). Anyway, because of reading the book I drag out the batch of live stuff you mention plus the BAM 1993 and the La Jolla Playhouse 2001 sets, all of which I got from the sadly no more eelpie.com many years ago. So live Townshend stuff has been playing in the house for a week or more and it's a real blast to hear it all again. Good to know these discs are getting listened to in the colonies as well. Cheers!
The ancient psalmist has nothing on PT!
One of my regrets is never seeing him solo in concert. One of the most brilliant songwriters ever. Up there with the best.
Christ is this song powerful. Is it okay to weep in front of your computer screen?
