"Who's Left: A Live Pete Collection" : THE WEEKEND MIX (Early Holiday Edition)

This didn't need much arm twisting, but thank you Ken for the push.

The bulk of this mix was culled from three separate live CDs originally sold at the sadly defunct EELPIE.COM.

The Fillmore, 1996
The Empire, 1998
Sadler's Wells, 2000

Two additional tracks are from the "Face To Face" live set and a Secret Policeman's Ball. And yes, it does open and close with "Won't Get Fooled Again." This is not an error.

I tried to sequence as best as I can, but I don't have the tools for cross-fading or editing, so it is not perfect. Pete will introduce a song at the end of one song, but my sequencing will connect to something else. iPodders will know exactly what I am talking about. Small price to pay.

(Speaking of "small price to pay," it's coming up on BW's 11th anniversary, by the way.  11 YEARS! ELEVEN! ELEVEN YEARS! Donate button is still in the same place. 😉  But I digress.)

Listening back to the test run, I realized two things. The first is, with Roger Daltrey as a lead singer, most won't notice just how terrific Pete's lead vocals are. The second is, Pete Townshend is a guitar god! Few, if any, could create as much music as he can on an acoustic guitar.

Have a great long weekend.

Dig it.

I think the Empire is the only signature series I'm missing!

I'd have a hard time leaving WGFA from Deep End BRIXTON.

My mistake! You opened with it.

This was a no-brainer on my part, Sal... you did all the work. Thanks.
Kevin M (and anyone else fortunate enough to see The Who on 9/1) we hope for a full report next week.
Happy Labor Day all.

I was fortunate enough to see the Sadler's Wells show from the 2nd row. One of the concert highlights of my life! Thanks for the mix, Sal. And enjoy the show on Sunday. I thought the show this spring was fantastic.

Is there anyone else with the gravitas, the songs, the guitar playing, the passion other than Richard Thompson and Pete Townshend?

Thanks Sal

Pete Townsend is more than the flashy guitarist from Woodstock he can play accoustic with a subtle feel just as well

Nice share
