Happy Birthday Walden Robert Cassotto

Mr. Cassotto, known to the world as Bobby Darin, would have been 84 years old today. And to be honest, as much as I do love so many of his records, this isn't something I planned on celebrating. I simply had nothing else prepared.

But that's okay, because as I was preparing this, I started liking it more. What we have here are three of my favorite Bobby Darin moments. Both "Softly, As In The Morning Sunrise" and "More" swing like nobody's business. And the duet with Johnny Mercer on "Indiana" is not only a whole lot of fun, it contains the single worst example of scat singing ever committed to wax. Try not laughing.

Enjoy!

Beyond the Sea is still my favorite. It always puts a smile on my face. Something that I can use more of these days....

Love Bobby D. Nice version of More. Also dig some of the Capitol and later folky stuff as well.

Nice to hear - should have lived longer!
As far as the, ahem, low-level scat, try Shooby Taylor?
