Green River- The Everly Brothers
Not the CCR cover, but a Phil & Don original. I maintain, the Everlys were great in every decade they recorded. This is from 1972's "Stories We Could Tell."
When I Get Home- The Searchers
Not The Beatles cover, but a Bobby Darin b-side that The Searchers make all their own.
Beltane Walk- T. Rex
Not the Helen Reddy cover, but...okay sorry. This is pure Marc Bolan from my second favortite T.Rex album.
This World Over- XTC
"Oh well, that's this world over
Oh well, next one begins
Oh well, that's this world over
You sadly grin"

From the BRMC's best, "Howl." Simply felt like hearing it,
Sock It To 'Em J.B.- The Specials
It doesn't get much more fun than this.
Come In Wit It- Hank Ballard
And speaking of a J.B., I've seen this listed as "Come In Wit It" and "Come On Wit It." Can't decide which I like better. Either way, it's Hank Ballard produced by James Brown, but it might as well be just James Brown.

Well, I think BRMC's 1st is best, but I do like Howl lots; in fact, 'Complicated Situation' is by far the BRMC song I sing the most to myself, and in fact one of my most-frequently sung-to-myself songs period. I'm curious what your T Rex fave albums are, esp since your stated 2nd-fave comes in 4th for me (Tanx>Slider>Electric Warrior>self-titled; I gave up with Zinc Alloy).

PS I was just half-awake enough to check the internet to see if Helen Reddy actually covered T Rex. Gave me the laugh I needed to fully wake up.

Electric Warrior
Beard Of Stars
Tanx
I really love the first two, as well, but in small doses.
I have pretty small doses of the first two, and a few John's Children cuts, and collected much of the previously-unreleased demos from the prime (for me) period. The Slider was my entry point circa 1974, and I still love the freshness and punch of that big acoustic/electric guitar sound and Flo & Eddie's background vocals. If Tanx wasn't one of my favorite albums of all time, Slider would be #1.
I keep waiting for the world to rediscover T Rex like they did, circa 1979, with The Doors.

The XTC still sounds quite lovely, doesn't it, and who can ever have enough of the elfin Bolan. thanks for doing the zip up. Cheers!
That fade-out of "Green River" has a definite "Isn't It A Pity" fade-out vibe, no? Not a bad thing, by any means.

My computer's been broked for a few weeks, so I've been off the interwebs... but I'm back, and gathering up all these good-lookin' SOTW mixes and checking out the commentary. Thanks!
