Yo Frankie!

I knew a Frankie Siragusa from Brooklyn. He was shaped like a fire hydrant and all his fingers looked like thumbs. This is not that Frankie Siragusa. This Frankie Siragusa plays drums for The Posies, and he has just released a solo album called "Goodbye My Love: Lost Songs Of Lennon & McCartney, Covered and Rediscovered" with a little help from fellow Posy Ken Stringfellow, Jellyfish's Roger Joseph Manning and Keith Sletterdahl from The 88. On the surface it looks like another attempt to record those great early sides that The Beatles gave away to the likes of Billy J. Kramer, Cilla Black, & Peter & Gordon, except this is unbelievably good!

It's not as if Siragusa and company radically reinvent anything. They do not. But there are enough soft touches like the harmonies on both "Bad To Me" and "Like Dreamers Do," or the crunchy power pop chords on "Step Inside Love" that kick things up a notch. The whole record sounds fresh, and of course, you can't beat the material.

"Goodbye My Love" is currently digital only--Spotify, Amazon, YouTube-- and that will have to do for now. It's worth your time. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised and you might even love it as much as I do.

World Without Love to the feel of I'm Only Sleeping is phenomenal.
Goodbye almost sounds like Sparks.
Franke ( not the thumb fingered Brooklynite ) and Keith of The 88 made an album together under the name of Big Sky Blue which is equally great, even without any Lennon/ McCartney tunes.
