New From Todd Rundgren & Sparks

As I stare out of my window, waiting impatiently for the mail to deliver my various "Who Sell Out" configurations on this glorious weekend of weekends, I awoke to a fresh pot of coffee and this brand new collaboration from Todd Rundgren and Sparks.

If you're a fan of both, this will not disappoint.

If you've been on the fence, this might push you off.

Video premieres at 1PM E.S.T.

You can listen now on your favorite streaming sight.

You can pre-order a limited edition 7" at Cleopatra Records.

Have a great weekend.

I know I will.

Well that's exciting! I'll be listening.

Well, that was fun. The two Todd inserts were rather whimsical and reminded me of bits that could have been included in AWATS. The Sparks bit was typical Sparks. I think it worked rather well. I enjoyed it very much.

Cool! Huge Todd fan here. I can't say the song will interest me that much in the long term, but is interesting, and sort of gathers up several aspects of Todd's ouevre I haven't heard much of from him in recent years - the "Emperor Of The Highway"/Monty Python-style vocals (or maybe that's Sparks) ~ the Kraftwerk-like dance aspect of "Bang The Drum All Day" and others ~ and three, a certain QUEEN aspect underneath it all.

Fascinating!

And almost irrespective of the song (love the vinyl pressing, that is boss) is the video - now that is amazing!

Very much Sparks; couldn't really hear that much Todd in it. Great to see them keep plugging away after all these years, and with no discernible lack of energy or creativity.

I am pretty sure it's a Sparks track that was already written and given to Todd to finish. I agree, it certainly leans more towards the minds of the Maels, but both Todd sung verses feel very Rundgren to me.

Hope you enjoy your Who Sell Out weekend. I'm immersing myself in the Tip's Radiators record, as well as the new Dumpstaphunk and the new (instrumental) Peter Frampton discs. Happy weekend!!

So...the third release from Todd's forthcoming Space Force album. At this rate, it'll be 2023 before it's released.

Sal, please let us all know how your Sell Out weekend turns out and give us your review. Have Fun!!

Haha! The second I saw the release of course I thought of Sal. But then I paused and thought, of COURSE he already knows and I wisely checked Burning Wood before reaching out. Whew! Since Now Playing hasn't mentioned The Who Sell Out I can only assume the package hasn't arrived yet or Sal is too busy listening to update it....

Speaking of the Who set - hope you do a full review of it. Like some of us who already have it in multiple formats - and like me, who's more a fan of later Who - would love to know if you think it carries its weight well for the price, once you've lived with it for a bit.

for the record, as a fan of both, this was very disappointing. couldn't make it through the whole song. pedestrian overly repetitive waste of talent. sounds phoned in at best. lame viddy as well.

I hope your Who Sell Out pressing sounds as good as mine does. A lot of static but a quick clean solved that problem. Great pressing. Super quiet. Really nice packaging. Except those damn cardboard sleeves.
