Thunderball- Tom Jones
I've yet to hear Sir Tom's new one in its entirety, but everytime I think about listening to it, I want to hear "Thunderball."

Supermassive Black Hole- Muse
I saw Muse perform live twice. Both times at Madison Squate Garden and both times it was the most people I have ever seen jammed into that arena. It was both exhilarating and frightening. The Earth shook. Love this track which feels like a cross between 80's Prince and Queen.

I'm A Stranger- The Action
Did a "One Sentence Review" on "Rolled Gold" last week. If you dig this song, I suggest checking out more from The Action. Most, if not all of "Rolled Gold" was left to be finished and released at a later date. That later date turned out to be years later.

Pumping- Patti Smith Group
Top 5 Patti for me.

Landmine- Jonatha Brooke
I wore out the aluminum on "10 Cent Wings" when that CD came out. This chorus and the coda is a beauty.

It's Only You (Mein Schmerz)- Lene Lovich
Found one of these in that box of 600 45s I picked up. What a hook in that chorus!

How Much I've Lied- Gram Parsons
The brief Charlie Rich discussion last week took me to Costello's "Almost Blue," which I hadn't heard in ages. The last track on it is this Gram tune. Here's the original and a good one to close things out.

B.J., R.I.P.

Thunderball is a great song. The last few albums in the Tom Jones revival are all pretty darn good. Def worth a listen. When I'm 80, I hope I can talk as well as he sings!

Definitely the best SOTW since last week's. Muse's "Black Holes and Revelations" is one hell of an album from the cover art inwards. Hadn't considered your Prince/Queen comparison before (got a royalty thing going?). Plus there's Lene Lovich and Gram Parsons and Sir Tom - wonderful stuff. Thanks for the zip. Cheers!

Or, Promise Her Anything by Tom Jones, a fave.

Thunderball is also my favorite James Bond theme song.
