I think it's only fair to point out that none of you did anything.

Personally, I thought the discussions over the entire Ishtar series were fantastic. I was having a blast and it seemed like all of you were too, even if we disagreed.

At no point did I think I was being disrespectful. I get fired up, sure. But when all is said and done, I think we are here because we all share a passion for this shit. I don't need to be reminded that "we like what we like" and "music is in the ear of the beholder." I am well aware of that. But that has never been what this blog was about.

One very wise and kind man offered his support with this:

"I was digging your telling us why we were right and wrong about those albums. There is music I like because you like it. That's why I was listening to "Liars".

That is all I hope for with Burning Wood and I hope for the same in return. When a reader suggests a record that I once had no use for, I try again because I respect that reader. I read trash about Todd Rundgren and Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie and Queen. So what? Let's talk about it. If you'd rather not, there are other blogs that do nothing but post download links. Maybe that is a better fit.

Something happened privately that did not sit well with me at all. I'm not over it yet, but I will be soon.

Thanks for your patience and your continued support. I just need to regroup and focus on the thousands of hits and positive comments, as opposed to the one negative. My reaction was knee jerk and I regret that.

Everyone preferred Randall Patrick McMurphy before the lobotomy.

Back soon.

Please stand by.

Who would have thought "Exile" was the straw that broke somebody's metaphorical camel's back (and not "Pet Sounds")? Hah! :-)

Hello all...no, please remain seated,

Take your time but hope you post again soon. In the meantime enjoy this terrific cover of perhaps my favorite Skynyrd song, Tuesday’s Gone With the Wind.

Hey Sal, this is Rick from Germany,

yours has been my 'go to' music blog, since I came across it a few years ago.
Your work (and work it is), has always impressed me - intelligent, opinionated, knowledgeable and, most of all, passionate.
I sincerely hope that after some serious regrouping you'll continue soon.
Your often surprising points of view on artists, certain pieces or music in general
are valuable and eye-opening and I for one wouldn't want to miss them.
Take care of yourself - you are essential.

All the best from the german outback to you, Sal, and all your relations.

Rick

I suspect Nurse Ratched preferred RP McMurphy after.....

His friends liked him before.

Thanks for the update, Sal, and understand the pause. I thought the discussion on Exiles was passionate but respectful, so sorry something devolved.

In the meantime, ran across this clip yesterday and thought it might be appropriate.

We all need a break now and then. It's totally human.

Just got a copy of "The Tubes, The Millennium Collection" today at a yard sale and guess who wrote the linear notes?

Sal Nunziato said...

@Jobe,
Are they horrible? That feels like ages ago!

Glad that was a quick one.

A Quick One?! (Only Sal's favorite album)

I lurk, but I'm glad too.

Jobe said...

Sal by no means are they horrible. But I think you show a certain bias to a Mr. Rundgren and I can't figure it out, seeing as how he's mentioned here so few times. (That's meant as a joke)

Jobe said...

Oh yeah and when I got the CD home I find there's no CD in the case. Just my luck

Hope it wasn't something I said,LOL... keep cool and we'll see you later

Thanks for the great music, the accurate comments and the rehabilitation of some artists I foolishly used to looked down my nose at.
Have a break, have a Kit-Kat, keep cool.

Thanks for the update. You have opened my eyes to a tremendous amount of great music. Also, you have raised good questions that have made me re-think assumptions about popular music that, upon reflection, needed reconsideration. Thank you for all you do for all of us.

Derrick,
A thoughtful and supportive comment like yours makes me realize all I'd be given up if I ever shut this place down.

I wanna read these! How do I tell A&M (I guess) that I'm buying a old cd because of who wrote the linear notes?

Glad to hear that regularly scheduled programming will be returning soon.

On one of the posts, you mentioned doing a podcast. While I know you're juggling a lot of stuff Sal, but I think you hosting a podcast would be ideal

You're a well respected man ('Cause he gets up in the morning, etc) as I'm sure you can tell from the above sentiments which I heartily echo. Hope it wasn't something I said about Neil Finn having a Highland terrier as his hairpiece? Have a well deserved, suitably great weekend. Cheers!

I've never heard the BB original of 'Our Car Club', but have had Tommy Keene's version from the get-go. I smile every time I hear that intro and his laugh at 8 seconds in. Every time you've posted a BB single in 'TCV', I've checked to see if it was this one. Maybe someday his covers of 'Kill Your Sons' and 'Carrie Ann' (with Gin Blossoms) will make it to 'TCV'.

I think I remember the impetus for the Exile row. That 'ice cream and puppies' reply had me laughing my ass off. By the way, you owe me a new keyboard, you bastard.

Anyway, I didn't discover Exile (save for a few minor singles played on the radio back in the day) until decades after its release. (Don't ask because I have no earthly idea.) As far as the Exile, there aren't any massive hits. But if you were to ask people to name an album they think is better than the sum of its parts, Exile would be my top choice.
