is this a back door attempt to get us to listen to jazz? I kid. I try to listen to as many of the "new" generation of pianists as possible (new being anyone after the Jarrett/Corea/Hancock generation; I am old). I find them a little on the technical side, except Matthew Shipp. I don't know if NPR or youtube still have it in their archives, but Shipp had a great episode with Marian McPartland on Piano Jazz.
This album is excellent. I've had it for a long while and play it fairly often.
I saw the Brad Mehldau Trio a few years ago with great seats in my favorite concert hall. The performance was fabulous, with plenty of passion and humor, and the expected chops from all 3 members. The one who really stood out though, was drummer Jeff Ballard. Not to be missed if they are in town.
Paul in DK, There was a stretch from the Art Of The Trio records, all the way through "Ode" where I could not get enough of Brad Mehldau. I still think "Largo" is a work of genius even if jazz purists thought it was crap. Saw the trio a number of times at The Village Vanguard and Brad solo at Carnegie Hall and he never disappointed.

Momofuku is a very good album. I was impressed by it.
