This song thing is a hit.
It's what they call a Tik Tok song.
And here I am defending Todd Rundgren, the Beastie Boys and Queen.
But seriously, just press that arrow below. This is how to be "dirty," kids.
Have a happy and safe holiday weekend.
See you on Sunday with your Songs Of The Week.

Love the guitar solo
Yeah, I don't get the TikTok song either. Usually, I can find something positive in what people try, but not this time.
Have a good holiday weekend, Sal!
It's not just the inane "lyrics". The herky-jerky rhythm irritates, the vocals irritate...I'm happy to concede that it appeals to a newer human than I, given it is what they're growing up with, so I'm fine with that. There's stuff that came before me that has no appeal to me; indeed, there's stuff that was AIMED at me that has no appeal to me, so there's always that. But I can't help but feel today's young'uns are getting cheated when stuff like that is highlighted as special enough to be a hit. That means it stood out as superior to other contemporary offerings, so that makes me question the artistry/validity of the B-team.
The Bartholomew cut is a corker. I love the interjections of "of ICE!" they threw in to both make it more palatable to radio and highlight its randiness. Years ago, I stuck Bartholomew's "The Monkey" on a mixtape for one of my long-gone brothers and he really loved that song; I think of him whenever I hear that song.

From what I can tell, it's best to avoid Tik Tok.
Such nonsense, these kids are out of their collective minds.
Thank goodness for the Dave Bartholomew track which is a nice piece of R&B and gave me a laugh into the bargain. I could stand only 30 seconds of the other thing before tearing out the earphones and bemoaning the state of global youth. Oh well. cheers!
not fair to compare one of the gods of blues and r&b to a bunch of kids messin' around. even the best were once the worst. if they are serious they will make discoveries and perhaps something will click. you never know.
Ugh. The less said the better. The Bartholomew is a great antidote.
