I loved the guy who nearly took the tumble to push out the pedal cluster but I’ll be damned if Mr. Nelson ever used it. The more I see him play guitar the more I believe he had no peers. IMHO he truly was (and still may be) the GOAT.
It must have been nuts to be that talented, and able to do what he did. On that note - to be able to do what anybody behind him is doing - drums, keys, backup vox, even just dancin'! Nuts.
I've listened to Prince (and Van Morrison) more than anybody else during the pandemic, and this is partly why.
I love the segue from King Crimson to Prince. It's this diversity in musical taste I think that brings us all here. Thanks for the Joy.
If you want to stick with the Royal theme you could go with Queen or Dukes of the Stratosphere next.
The most joyous performer I've ever experienced is Stevie Wonder. He has so much fun on stage that it just lifts the whole crowd. I hope he can make it into one of your Joy weeks.
There was a 10 piece vocal band in NO called The Asylum Chorus (originally named St Cecilia Chorus) that did an unbelievable version of 7. They never recorded it, but here is a live clip that has them performing it - go to the 3:50 mark. Unfortunately, the band broke up. It was waay too tough to make that big of a band economically viable in the NO market. They do have several eps out (under both names) so look them up.

this song has been coming up in my utube suggestions lately, too. of all the new stuff available, I think I love the Montreux big band shows the most.
