With the exception of the Louis Prima track, which came up in a discussion with a friend last week and has one the greatest refrains in all of music, and the Joe Jackson, which is a prelude of things to come this week, the rest of these songs were chosen randomly as I was searching through a hard drive. I saw them and felt like hearing them and voila, they are now your songs of the week. Not a very scientific way of sequencing, but I do think it sounds pretty good altogether.
Next week...an ode to joy...Take Two.

Nice! The OG version of "Ode To Joy" written circa 200 years ago is my favorite song of all time... and the Joe version is pretty darn cool too.

The Joe Jackson "Ode To Joy" is a JJ original that incorporates the Beethoven theme. Not a full out cover at all.

Intentional or not, following up swamp king Bobby Charles with an intro that sounds an awful lot like the intro to the Dixie Cups' 'Iko Iko' was genius. And, damn if the start of the BB song didn't sound like the Strokes circa 2001.

Each side of the Joe Jackson record "Fast Forward" where "Ode To Joy" can be found was recorded in a different city using musicians from that city. Side Four? New Orleans!
