Ronnie Spector, 1943-2022

 

I don’t have much to add to what has already been said about Ronnie Spector except, there are few records as gloriously perfect as “Walking In The Rain.” That record has been breaking hearts for 60 years and I imagine it’s going to break a few more from here on out.

that voice indeed. If the restless, romantic, yearning, searching invention of the 20th century teenager had a voice, my pick would be Ronnie's voice. What a loss.

"Walking In The Rain" is one of those great songs that seems impossible to ruin. I've always loved the Jay & The Americans version.

Her voice is immediately identifiable and it draws the listener in. No tricks, no shrieking, just wonderful singing. Can’t say that about any of the stars of the auto-tune age. A real loss.
