Brown & Blue

All this Savoy Brown talk has put me in the mood.

I came very late to this party, having only known of the band from seeing the album covers on the inner sleeves of my Rolling Stones records. Then, when I finally heard the music, it was the later records without the brilliant Chris Youlden and it did little for me.

It was only about ten or fifteen years ago, after acquiring about a dozen Savoy Brown records in a collection, that I decided to take them on properly and those classic four have been on semi-heavy rotation ever since.

"Getting To The Point" remains my favorite, but "Blue Matter," "A Step Further" and "Raw Sienna" all tie for a very close second.

If this band is new to you, Cleveland Jeff has a nice write up which you should check out over here.

Chris Youlden, released a great cd a couple years ago called "Closing Time" I'm sure his fans have heard it but if not you really should check it out

After reading this post yesterday, I listened to two SB albums and the rest of my day was splendid. Coincidence???
