Matilda Mother (MONO)- Pink Floyd
One of my three favorite records of all time, "Piper At The Gates Of Dawn" finally gets a proper reissue in mono. To celebrate, we begin with Syd's Floyd.

Cheerleader- St. Vincent
My favorite track from "Strange Mercy."

Perfect Way- Scritti Politti
I read something recently in Mojo, either about a Scritti Politti tour, or possibly a reissue campaign. Either way, they've been on my mind. I loved their singles back in the day and just happened to find the "Cupid & Psyche 85" album at last week's record show. And so...here is "Perfect Way."

Within Your Reach- The Replacements
I'd be preaching to the "Mats choir if I went on about the genius of Paul Westerberg. So, this goes out to all those either unfamiliar with or uninterested in The Replacements. For all the 'Mats songs that bash and pop at breakneck speed, there are a few like this one, and most of them, including those bashers, have brilliant lyrics.  "I can live without your touch/but I'll die within your reach."

Rush Across The Road- Joe Jackson
This one popped up on the iPod shuffle and it took a minute to realize who I was listening to. When it hit me, I realized I needed to spend more time with JJ's "Rain" album, which is really fantastic.

Tomorrow Is A Long Time- Rod Stewart
Covered by many, including Sandy Denny & Elvis Presley, here is a Dylan fave via Rod The Mod.

Eye Candy- Ron Sexsmith
Sexsmith's "Long Player Late Bloomer" is getting a RSD reissue this April. He has many records with many great songs, but this album for me, is the most consistent and accessible. "Eye Candy," like the rest of the album, is ear candy.

"One of my three favorite records of all time" of course begs the question ...

I've been thinking about a list for some time. I did The Other 100
https://burnwoodtonite.blogspot.com/2017/04/the-other-100-91-100.html

...but maybe a new project will be my Top 100. The Real 100.

Until then, it should be no secret to readers of this blog that my favorite album of all time, #1 all by itself, is "The Who Sell Out." Followed by The Zombies' "Odessey & Oracle" and "Pink Floyd "Piper At The Gates Of Dawn."

The other 97 coming soon...or in two years.

I had the same question JAYESSEMM - I remembered The Who Sell Out was one of them. Good pick on the Zombies as a top record of course.

And nice link back to that earlier top records post. I once spent a lot of time sorting through my albums and ranking them all. That was a while ago - I should revisit.

Scritti Politti toured the UK at the end of last year, I can report that they were fantastic. Great setlist and band, Green's voice hasn't aged at all. So, if they're coming your way Sal I'd recommend them wholeheartedly.

The Real 100? Don't torture yourself. Make it the real 250 or the Real 500. I used to scoff at the "1000 Albums/Movies/Books" you need to get into before you die series. I mean, come on! Make some tough choices. But given the number of albums/books/movies etc choosing just 250 would be hard already. Or don't think about it and make a pile -- essential, essential, not essential, essential -- and then add them up and see where you're at.

And choosing one Ron Sexsmith album as his most consistent is high praise indeed considering how wonderfully consistent he's been over the years.
