I needed to say a bit more than I did on my original post.
I
am a casual Foo Fighters fan at best. But losing Taylor Hawkins has hit
me harder than I could have ever imagined. I like a good number of Foo
Fighters songs, but not nearly as much as I love the existence of the
band. As a band, the Foos validated the joy and enthusiasm I feel
listening to my records as an adult; a feeling many think is only
acceptable when you're a kid. This is the way it should be for not just members
of a band, but for all music lovers of any age. Throw yourself in, head
first, and allow yourself to love every chord, guitar solo, harmony and
bass drum kick, while smiling all the time. Play those air guitars and
drums and sing along without shame.
Thank you, Dave Grohl.
Thank you, Taylor Hawkins.

well said Sal. My he rest in peace.
I think that, sometimes, as adults we forget the unbridled joy that we first felt hearing a piece of music or performance that opened up a whole new world...banging around in your bedroom music blasting...that we recall doing this but are possibly too self conscious to allow ourselves that pleasure now...well the Foo Fighters always looked like they still held onto that childhood (teenage) joy. Like Sal I never really payed their music that much attention but they always looked like they were thoroughly enjoying it....i'd love to get that feeling as often as they did...but...hey I'm getting old.
RIP Taylor
I couldn't agree more, Sal. There's a sense of joy with these guys, and it extends to side projects like the "Dee Gees" disco album and Grohl's Hanukkah Sessions. Being a rock star is SUPPOSED to be fun!

DAMMIT! You nailed it, Sal. He was a joy to watch and listen to, as was the band. Just watch that Foo’s and Zep video you posted a little while ago and you CANNOT keep that grin of pure joy off your face. And what a double-fuck for Dave Grohl…RIP Taylor
