That's Just Too Much- The Everly Brothers
I have said many times, every Everly Brothers album is worth having...except maybe "Instant Party."
But if you don't have any, the recent collection "Hey Doll Baby," curated by Tom Petty's daughter, is a great place to begin. You'll get this great track and many others.

Seven Seas- Echo & The Bunnymen
Back in the 80's I worked with a kid named Jay who was always in a great mood and had his own language. For example, his favorite band was "Shmecko & The Bonzoids" because "that's what we call them back home in GB WISS!" I listened to "Shmecko & The Bonzoids" singles collection and immediately thought of Jay.

My White Bicycle- Tomorrow
A nugget cause I dug it, here are Twink, Keith West and a pre-Yes Steve Howe and the single from one of my favorite British psych albums. This album is solid.

Michael & Heather At The Baggage Claim- Fountains Of Wayne
"Traffic & Weather" doesn't get a lot of love, but I think it's a much better album than "Sky Full Of Holes," if only for this beauty.

No Surprises- Radiohead
I got off the Radiohead bus after "OK Computer" and I have never gotten back on, though I've tried and tried. A friend suggested I listen to The Smile, Thom Yorke's new project. I did, and while it was the closest I've been in some time, it only made me long for "The Bends" and OK Computer," both of which sounded as wonderful as ever this week.

However Absurd- Paul McCartney
If you've been paying attention for the last 12 years, you might recall that I had found new appreciation for Sir Paul's solo work. Records that initially left me cold on release, are now favorites. (I'm telling ya, listening a different way opens up a world of new, old music.) I've come around to just about everything except for "Off The Ground" and "Press To Play." I played the latter this week, hoping to hear something I might have missed. I did. This one track knocked me out. The rest, not so much.

If I Had My Life To Live Over- John Boutte
The last word goes to one of New Orleans' greatest and absolutely one of my favorites, Mr. John Boutte. This one should leave you smiling.

What a great FOW song - shame the album lacks a vinyl release.

Nice mix, thanks!

I might demur gently about Sky Full Of Holes. I think SFoH at least matches Welcome Interstate Managers.

But I agree that Traffic And Weather is insufficiently loved.

I was at least able to listen to Press To Play - it wasn’t as useless as I recall.
Hot Space remains unlistenable to me.
Thanks for your reviews and comments!

Some of my favorite Paul McCartney songs are from the last 20 years, including:

Sing The Changes
Spinning On An Axis
Dance Tonight
I Don't Know
That Was Me
Tiny Bubble
Long Tailed Winter Bird
Nothing Too Much Just Out Of Sight
Looking At Her
Riding Into Jaipur
Jenny Wren
Driving Rain

+ three of his best "sun" songs ever:

Back In The Sunshine Again
See Your Sunshine
and especially Sun Is Shining

A month or so ago I was on a drive and had started the soundtrack with Sky Full of Holes. It ended up playing through twice, and I have to say I didn't mind it a bit. Lots of good songs on there. Traffic and Weather is a good one too, just not on a frequent rotation for me. Thanks for giving me a reason to play it again!

To Bill and Squints,
This is my issue with "Sky Full Of Holes."

All that I loved about FOW from the debut and then the amazing follow-up "Utopia Pkwy"--the pop culture references, the humor, the heartbreak, the melodies and harmonies--seemed forced and overdone on "Sky Full Of Holes."
It seemed like all of those wonderful FOW tricks were just tossed out too quickly for that last album.

"Road Song" was just a rewrite of "I-95."
"Richie & Ruben"- "Michael & Heather.
"Acela" - "92 Subaru."

Really all good songs, but I guess by "Sky Full Of Holes" it felt like outtakes.

If "Sky Full Of Holes" was their debut, I might be talking a lot differently.

Hmmm, that's a good point. Maybe they had run out of FOW steam by Sky Full of Holes.

Now, Out-of-State Plates is a fantastic outtakes/b-sides collection.
