Very happy that this is finally getting released (in Sept). The 4 songs that have been released from it are all very good, and the album should serve to be a fitting end to his career (and, much better than the last record he had made - the Armstrong tribute).
Shannon McNally was a good guess. I also thought Amy Helm. But the credits list only two female vocalists: Yolanda Robinson and Jolynda Chapman, who I believe are part of Topsy Chapman's Solid Harmony.
Yep - they are with Solid Harmony. Mac performed on Shannon's "Small Town Talk" album, and he often commented on how much he liked her as an artist. I'm still thinking that its her on the vocals on that track, but who knows....

All Right!
That was terrific. Sad that he's no longer with us, but glad to have one last musical Rx from the good Doctor.
That's how to cover a song! Leave it identifiable, but make it sound like you wrote it. Another gem in the glorious Dr. John catalog.
On the subject of covers, the new album Jem Records Celebrates Pete Townshend is much better than I expected it to be. Hardly a bum track.

Thanks, I needed that.
Loved it. And I loved the Toussaint On your way down from your recent Spin Cycle.
As well it should.
Anyone know who the name of the female singer on it? The limited credits I can find do not list a female singer. Maybe Shannon McNally?!?
I was going to ask exactly the same as pmac...

Per Stereogum, the female vocalist is Katie Pruitt. No idea who she is.
