The lovable maniac Keith Moon died 44 years ago today. Soon after, Kenney Jones became the worst drummer in rock. We all know that's not true. He just wasn't the right man for Keith's job. Though, some of the blame has to be put on Pete, first for writing some inferior songs for Kenney to play and then, for telling Kenney, "JUST PLAY STRAIGHT! DON'T BE KEITH!"
Here are a few of my favorite Moon moments to celebrate one of the greatest drummers to ever drive a car into a pool.

So, I wanted to look up the lyrics to However Much I Booze on Google. In addition to some other helpful information, Google suggests that the genres for the song are: Alternative/Indie, Children's Music, Pop, and Rock.
I loved those Petey T, The Well-Fucked Sailor books when I was a kid. Didn't realize they were still popular.

Hahaha! I'm dying here!
Keith Moon's playing and humor were top class. Sadly, I only saw The Who with Kenney Jones and Zak Starkey; they were still one of the best live acts I've seen.
Had to look up the Petey T books...

I love watching "The Keith Moon Show" while The Who were performing at The Isle of Wight. He's at the top of his game, and having a blast. I never get tired of "Moon" stories, like his Campbell's Soup airline vomit bag prank.
It's all very funny, and equally tragic.
Ladies and Gentlemen, on lead drums... Keith Moon!

Spookily this cropped up on my random playlist yesterday. Loved it back in the day. Hadn't listened to it for years but amazed now how much the guitar riff sounds like the Allman Brothers. Never thought I'd be saying that about The Who! Just proves that good music is good music.
We both share a birthday with Gene Kelly.
