Mannequin- Wire
From 1977, here is a track from Wire's debut "Pink Flag," a record that, if I remember correctly, was called one of the best of the year by Creem Magazine. I don't remember agreeing with them then, but I absolutely do now.

Featherbedding Lover- Nazz
A just released, 4 LP colored vinyl box of Nazz acetates, demos and alternates was released. I was feeling buyer's remorse from the second I pre-ordered it a few months ago. It was pricey and I had a lot of it already, even though this promised to be different and better. It is different and it is better, and there were enough surprises, like an 18 year old Todd Rundgren demoing a number of tracks by himself, to ease the pain in my pockets.  Here's a track that made me immediately....

Somewhere- Soundgarden
...think of this track by Soundgarden.

I'm Gonna Make You Eat Those Words- Eddie Lang
Eddie Lang was a rhythm and blues guitarist from New Orleans and he didn't make very many records. As a matter of fact, this badass track, wasn't even released until almost 30 years after it was recorded.

Hold On Baby- Sam Hawkins
And speaking of badass, this one should get even the toughest nuts shaking and baking.

By The Time It Gets Dark- The New Mendicants
Here are Joe Pernice and Norman Blake taking one of the most beautiful songs ever written, a Sandy Denny gem, and not messing it up. As a matter of fact, it's a perfect cover.

If We Never Meet Again This Side of Heaven- Leon Redbone
See you on that on beautiful shore. Bring your records and a can of Pringles.

Looks awesome - including a few artists I've never heard of. Thanks as always for this SOTW mix Sal.

Eddie Lang reminds me a lot of Diamond Joe and Alvin "Shine" Robinson. Artists from NO who unfortuantely only recorded sporadically, but what's out there is jaw dropping.

I've got "Come On Home" and "She's Mine All Mine" by Mr. Lang, so I'm curious to hear this one. Thanks!
