From a 1965 live performance, this is Frank Zappa and The Mothers with a very groovy version of the Marvin Gaye classic "Hitch Hike." I've shared this track before, probably on a few different mixes, but I never get tired of it. It's a terrific vocal from Ray Collins and I think the band nails the groove. I also finally realized after all these years, the Velvets stole the intro for "There She Goes Again."

Ray Collins was also terrific as Lt. Tragg on Perry Mason.😎
The sixties! I always say I wish I had been born 10 years earlier!
Coincidentally (or maybe not), today's "Daily Double-Take" on Little Steven's Underground Garage was Marvin Gaye's and the Rolling Stones' versions of Hitch-Hike. Though it would have been a lot cooler if they had put either of those versions side-by-side with There She Goes Again.
