Miranda And The Beat

I hate music videos. When MTV first launched, I loved every one, from Thomas Dolby to Saga and back again. Forty years later, I just don't have the patience. They distract from the music. That being said, Miranda & The Beat will be releasing their full length debut on May 26th. Their prior handful of singles dating back to 2018 covered the usual fuzzy garage rock and soul bases, but both lead tracks from the upcoming release really knocked me out.

I suggest hitting play, turning it up and closing your eyes. Though, if you have no problem with music videos, then please just dig in. I love both of these tracks and I am looking forward to more.

You can preorder "Miranda & The Beat" over at Bandcamp.

CONCRETE: opening the video with House on Haunted Hill clip got me going and I was totally enjoying the graphics as well as the song. Diggin’ it!

Yeah, I have a love-hate-indifference to music videos. I too gobbled them up when MTV began and of course certain songs (many from the early 80s) have visuals imprinted on my brain. They are certainly an art form and the best music videos are stunners worthy of watching on their own. But 99% of the time now, I never watch a music video unless somehow I'm tricked into it or someone says it's particular well done (the music video, not the song, as such). I want to hear the music and get to know it before I ever even bother to look at how someone else adapted it.

That Janelle Monae video is a direct rip of an Anne Murray video from 1970.

Love it! I tried to watch the first video, but it gave me a twitch.

MTV days evoke memories of that awful Robert Palmer video for "Addicted to Love". At least that was my opinion - probably a very unpopular opinion!

Sal, the fact that you know this has me a little concerned about you.

Randy,
That Anne Murray line was a joke.
Did you watch the Janelle Monae video?

Enjoyed the Miranda vids. But the Janelle video .... wow! But Anne Murray? Really? I was getting a strong Debbie Boone vibe.
