Sincerely- Dave Edmunds
A great track from a great, forgotten album, that for some reason, never turns up anywhere. You can buy Dave's entire Swan Song output for a buck, but "Closer To The Flame" seems to elude every record dealer in America. Even Discogs only has a dozen available versus hundreds of the Swan Song records.
True story.
Forget All About It- Nazz
Never get tired of this one. Would love to hear Todd Rundgren pull this one out live.
Way of The World- Cheap Trick
There is a lot of filler on "Dream Police." You may disagree. But this track is an all timer.
Bye Bye Blackbird- Joe Cocker
Jimmy Page likes to post his recording and performance history on Instagram. A few weeks ago he reminded everyone that he played on Joe Cocker's "With A Little Help From My Friends" album. This track features one of my favorite Page solos.
Lulu Was That You- Cal Wayman
Years ago, a friend would create CDs featuring obscure soul and R&B tracks, which is how I came across this gem. They don't make records like this anymore.
No More Okey Doke- The Meters
One of the last singles released by The Meters for the Reprise label, and a track I has forgotten about until last week when I gave their singles collection a spin.
Hey Bartender- Floyd Dixon
First heard this by the Blues Brothers, but it took some time to track down the original, since this was years before the internet. Floyd Dixon's version kicks ass.

Love that Meters' selection. The last studio album they did usually gets negative crtitical reaction, but I really like it.
Looks excellent - thanks for this mix Sal.
Just finished listening to the "Authorized Greatest Hits" by Cheap Trick and thinking about what an amazing catalog they have and how many more great songs are not part of the collection. "Way of the World" is one of them.
Always been a DE fan, but don't hear much about him these days. I didn't realize that Closer To The Flame was a bit rare. Cheers.
It seems that Dave Edmunds album is great, and unfortunately, forgotten. Every one had several songs that could have been hits but never were.
The last time I saw him live he did a solo set at the new Main Point club in Bryn Mawr, PA maybe 15 years ago. It was for a new album of solo guitar instrumentals, I think it was mostly classical music. He plugged in a Telecaster for the last song, "Sabre Dance". It was a little odd, considering everything he had done up to that point, that's what he wanted to do, so...
I'm not sure if it's true, but I think I read about 5 years ago he had a heart attack and retired from the music biz.
Everybody'll notice the bass in the Meters track, but listen to those runs in the ecstatic finishing of Lulu!
And I'm glad to see Concrete Blonde on your radar. You cited them recently for their cover of Lizzy, but that first album is one of the great debuts.

Thanks for the zippery thing. My girlfriend at the time and I really loved that Cheap Trick album, but it has paled and fallen out of favour since - and not just because she and I split up (I got possession of the vinyl)! Cheers.....
