"Metamorphosods": Odd Faves From The Who & The Stones

This was originally a playlist I had put together for myself, inspired by my somehow not knowing there was a studio version of "Fortune Teller" by The Who. Once I tracked it down, I found a few other oddities I felt like listening to, like The Who's version of "Time Is Passing," which also slipped by me somehow.

Then, last night or the night before, I listened to the Stones' "Metamorphosis," which I think is a truly fab collection of oddities and so, I started looking around for some other weird Stones I could listen to.

This playlist could easily be 50 songs, but I've kept it down to a manageable baker's dozen. This way, you could dig it all at once.

A FEW NOTES:

It kicks off with "Live With Me" from The Marquee because it just had to.

You might think, "Another live version of I Can't Explain?" Well, this is with Kenney Jones and the chorus is just slightly rearranged, which I really dig.

"Don't Lie To Me" is not the version from "Metamorphosis."

That this incredible acoustic "Let's Spend The Night Together" was left off of "Stripped" is just criminal.

Enjoy.

While I enjoy Metamorphosis, I haven't listened to in a while. Need to rectify that. The mix looks great!

This looks fantastic!! Speaking of which - I'd been looking for a CD of "Odds And Sods" (yes, I still buy CDs) and found one this past week in Seattle. I'm a fool for every outtake and rarity and such by Pete.

Cool idea for a mix.

I'd forgot about Time Is Passing - I'm such a fan of Who Came First that the Who versions of songs from that album, Pure and Easy/Nothing Is Everything (Let's See Action), don't hit the mark for me, but Passing is the best of the bunch.

Thanks!!
