Next month will see the release of a new deluxe edition of The Replacements' classic major label debut "Tim." Along with the bonus material which includes outtakes, demos and a live show from 1986, will be a new mix of the album proper by Ed Stasium. Now I know remixes can ruffle some feathers, but just listen to the difference. If any record needed some tweaking, it's "Tim." The new mix of "Left Of The Dial" is above and the original is below, as is the full track listing of the box.

nice set list for the Metro show. i know Slim Dunlap was a pro, but Bob Stinson was the man.
The new mix is enticing. Ed Stasium has done some great work with The Ramones and Translator, so it's no surprise that this sound good.
As for the remastered and expanded Ragged Glory, I listened to that a few days ago. It's excellent. Very good to have the b-sides appended, especially the wonderful Don't Spook The Horse.

Big difference between the two. Glad the deluxe package has both mixes. Gonna snag it. But no 20th Century Boy on the live show? A minor quibble.
What a fun band to see live. Raw, ragged and fuckin' righteous. Hard to argue with Tim and Let It Be. And the tours in support. Lots of energy, generous 90+ minute sets, and covers from all over the musical map. I saw 'em eleven times during 1985-1986. Always unique.

Rhino is giving me so much trouble trying to pre-order this
They could have fit both the new and Stasium mixes on one CD, dropped the vinyl, and sold the package for half the price. Thanks again, Rhino.
Actually, I'd prefer a two-LP set with the new mix and the rarities. They could keep the live set and the CDs.
That new mix is fabulous. I can't wait to hear a remixed "Kiss Me On The Bus".
Ed Stasium is a very nice guy and one of my personal heroes.
Wow, even I can hear the difference! The new version sounds so clear!
Awesome. My high school friend Mike turned me on to the Replacements; just sorry I never saw them stumble/shamble/rock through a concert.
One of the bands that changed my life.First time I heard LET IT BE it was an almost psychedelic experience.
Reading too much griping on social media about how this new mix is unnecessary and should never have been released. Odd for a record that's both universally loved and almost as universally criticized for the muddy production/mix.
I'm looking forward to hearing it based on this first song. Dead Man's Pop did a really good job of relooking at Don't Tell a Soul without screwing up the original record.
People need to relax sometimes. Don't buy it if you don't want to!

Bill,
Coincidentally, my friend posted something on Threads, pretty much saying the same thing. I've yet to see anything, or maybe I'm not looking closely enough. But yeah, no one is forcing anyone to buy anything.
Sal--
I've been seeing it mostly on TwitterX. Bob Mehr is getting into it with some of them.
And this gives me an opportunity to plug Mehr's book "Trouble Boys." Mats 4 Ever!
Bill
I loved "Trouble Boys," though I can't think of a book that made me angrier with each chapter. Man, they knew how to mess shit up.
