Crowded- Nazz
We lost Stewkey earlier this month, so we will start with a tribute. Here's the one track he wrote on the first Nazz record.
Black Night- Deep Purple
I always loved playing this one on the drums. All right, Ian Paice!
Boys On The Radio- Hole
One of about six great tracks from the "Celebrity Skin" album. Not before or since has Courtney Love released a record as good. Am I wrong?
Sign Up- The Termites
I've been eyeing "Do The Rock Steady" by The Termites for years now. The cheapest out there is running over $500. But I found a cover only while in Kingston, cheap, and while I was on the flight back, I dialed up Discogs using JetBlue's "FlyFi" service and did some record shopping from 36,000 feet. I bought a record only from a reggae dealer for $55. A few days after landing, the mail arrived. I now have Termites for under $100. This is one of my faves from the album.
I Can't Leave You Alone- George McRae
"Rock Your Baby" was a huge single, but I highly recommend the entire "Rock Your Baby" LP, a rare disco-era album that plays well from side to side.
Hang 'Em High- Jackie Mittoo
This track rocks more like The Meters and less like Jackie's usual brand of danceable reggae and ska grooves.
Bite My Head Off- Rolling Stones
"You can picture Dad pounding his hand against the steering wheel in time
to “Bite My Head Off,” four minutes of punk so patrician that it takes a
blown-out bass solo by Sir Paul McCartney for it to sound remotely tough"-- Grayson Haver Currin, Pitchfork
"Blow it out your ass, Grayson!"--Sal Nunziato, Burning Wood

Yeah Grayson. F off!
Fun mix! I don't know; I was always partial to Live Through This, but those two albums are def her legacy.
I take that back. I like Nobody's Daughter too.
Another with a bunch I've never heard ... thanks as always for each and every SOTW, Sal. I never take 'em for granted and they're always fun to hear at the end of each week.
Nice story about the Termites record - great song!
Randy
Ph! PS- Re: that Hole record, you are correct. There are moments in other records after that (Check out "Sunset Strip" on her solo debut. And I LOVE "Live Through This" but the craft in the songs is not there. it's inspiration and balls. The craft on "Celebrity Skin" is amazing. it's a great record.
Oh wow, that method of making a link live worked! I'll have to tryyyy to remember that in the future when I'm tryin' to share a link here ......
