Khruangbin

I've been seeing the name Khruangbin for some time now. This band seems to be quite popular, and even after being told, I'm still not sure I am pronouncing their name correctly. This morning, with nothing prepared, something made me listen to the band's new single. I hadn't heard a note of their music before. What I heard surprised the hell out of me! I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't this. Are there fans of Khruangbin out there? If so, is this track representative of their work? Because I really dig it.

Yes.
learned of the band about 10 years from a NPR ‘best of’. I find it has a similar vibe to the Krasno/Moore Project’s Book of Queens which you shared and I adore. Hope you enjoy. :)

The EP they released with Leon Bridges a few years ago is pretty good

My only exposure to them is a collaboration with Vieux Farka Toure on his album "Ali" (2022).

Pretty good stuff.

Liked the video you posted.

Was just going to mention the ep with Leon Bridges, which is great (and I think Bridges is just okay). Not a huge fan but this group keeps popping up every so often. I enjoy a lot of what I hear. While I'm not going to rush out and buy a record, I certainly won't move away when their music pops up.

Check out their version of Christmas Time Is Here from the Charlie Brown Christmas special!

that's basically their whole ouevre. drummer and bassist come up with a groove, guitarist figures out the solo. very few vocals (but trending towards more). the funny thing is someone on youtube has put together bunches of playlists of stuff that sounds like Khruangbin and dubbed them "Kruangbin Vibes." band is from Houston, lots of live vids on youtube.

I've been told by friends younger than me that my life won't be complete until I become a Khruangbin devotee, but I've never had an entryway in so I just kept on walkin'.

I do like this song - maybe I need to jump in this pool!

Nice vibe to their sound. I dig it. Was familiar with the Leon Bridges connection but had forgotten about it. Thanks for another turn on.

Great background music and yes, it sounds just like their other efforts. Personally, I think Texas Sun is a better song.

The Peter Green influence stands out to me. I'd love to hear them cover "Proud Pinto."

Yep That's what they sound like. My favorite thing about this band is that they wore wigs onstage so they wouldn't be recognized behind the merch table.

I hear them often on the jamband station on Sirius. I agree Texas Sun is better.

They are great live, wearing their Texas blues influence on their sleeves among a myriad of other genres. Quite a few collaborations that usually work well. Mordechai was my first exposure to them and would recommend it as an entry spot. Texas Sun and Texas Moon are both good collaborations.

When it first started it sounded like elevator music but the more I listened the more it drew me in. Definitely interesting enough to dig a bit deeper.
