Symptom Of The Universe- Black Sabbath
Throw Some Water In- Lee Perry
This Is A Recording- De La Soul
Olympia WA.- Rancid
March Climes- The Posies
We'll Keep On Rolling- Brenda Holloway
Woody & Dutch On The Slow Train To Peking- Rickie Lee Jones
It looks like this week's mix inadvertantly covers seven different genres. Should be something for everyone. (And maybe even a few for no one.)
Symptom Of The Universe- Black Sabbath
I've been on a Sabbath kick as of late, listening to the debut, "Paranoid," "Sabotage" and "Heaven & Hell." One constant is Bill Ward's drumming. He not only can pound hard to match the sinister riffage and drive of Tony Iommi, he can really and truly swing underneath all of the dark metal. So often, his drum fills feel accidental, as if he just throws himself off a cliff and hopes for the best. I mean that in the very best way. The intro is one the nastiest!
Throw Some Water In- Lee Perry
From one of my favorite reggae albums of all time, and one considered to be one of "Scratch's" best, "Roast Fish, Collie Weed & Corn Bread," dig...maybe..."Throw Some Water In."
This Is A Recording- De La Soul
Rap goes over about as well as heavy metal and reggae on these pages, but this groove is infectious.
Olympia WA.- Rancid
I fell in love with Molly Tuttle's cover of this Rancid classic. You should check out both.
March Climes- The Posies
From the last Posies record before the Stringfellow fall out, here's my fave off of "Solid States."
We'll Keep On Rolling- Brenda Holloway
That "cellarful" of Motown rarities seems bottomless. There is plenty that deserved to remain unreleased, but this, another gem from Brenda Holloway, could have been a hit.
Woody & Dutch On The Slow Train To Peking- Rickie Lee Jones
Pick up what's nearest to you...a pencil, a fork, a remote...and bang along to this RLJ classic. This should put you in a good mood.

You've spurred me to listen to some Black Sabbath this morning in an attempt to stay warm here in frigid Missouri.
Also motorvated me to check out Scratch's Roast Fish.
Love the Brenda H. tune!
Been awhile since Stringfellow went into hiding - a quick search revealed a new single, Believer (Imagine Dragons cover) released last November. Even though he's a no-goodnick, my selfishness would like more new music from him.
Thanks for the mix!!
Randy
The Brenda Holloway is killer, and hitherto unknown to me. Thanks!
Looks like a really cool mix. I love that Rickie Lee song. And I strongly recommend her autobiography from last year - amazing life story. I had no idea.
Sabbath at one end and Rickie Lee Jones at t'other, now that is a tasty sandwich. Thanks for the note on each track. Watch out for that snow. Cheers!
Symptom Of The Universe... this happens to be my phone ringtone. If i don't answer your call console yourself with the thought that i appreciated you ringing me.. i'll leave you a voicemail, call me back. All praise the mighty Sabs
That's a good'un by Mr. Perry, but the title track of that album is off-the-charts great. I've never gotten the Posies, but, dang, that is one gorgeous song you put in here!
