Twofer Bonus

"Sailin' Shoes" (1972)
Little Feat was the first unknown band I got into, thanks to Loss Leader "Loony Tunes". I fell in love with "Strawberry Flats", from their first album, which I couldn't find, making me one of 13,000 people to buy "Sailin' Shoes" upon release. They went on to be quite popular, and their "Waiting For Columbus"(1978) is considered one of the best "Live" albums of all time. This one will always be of my favorite, and I never go too long without playing it. Pictured here is my second copy, purchased in 1973 to celebrate my new sound system. It's a "cut-out", and you can see saw cuts on the lower right corner. I'd worn out the original, playing it to death, on my first "toy" stereo. My favorite track, "Cold, Cold, Cold" has one of the best drum sounds, thanks to Ted Templeman, I've ever heard. Lowell George's mixture of blues, country, and humor on this album still knocks me out.

Feats Don't Fail Me Now (1974)

This was the last Little Feat album I bought when it came out.
I felt they'd drifted too far from my beloved "Sailin' Shoes" and the fact that side two ended with a medley of it, "Cold, Cold, Cold", (personal favorite) and "Tripe Face Boogie" (least favorite), made my blood boil.
I'm playing the album for the first time since 1975, and what was I thinking? It's much better than I remember it, and has aged really well, but I haven't made it to the medley.
Okay, here it is. AND...... it's a killer rework. Damn! A fine closer.
Score! I picked up this near mint original copy for $4 at The Record Riot in Plainville, Connecticut a few hours ago.
Now I love it the way I wished I did back in '75.
Vinyl rules again.

Here's an old Little Feat weekend mix I made forever ago in case you missed it:

The first handful of Feat albums are all excellent. Not sure I have a favorite.

Two great albums with great artwork! Thanks for the mix, I have one on a cassette that I still haven't digitized. I didn't put the song list with the cassette, it must be around here somewhere.
