Just out and hot as fresh milk is "Till The Morning," Brian D'Addario's debut solo record. Brother Michael and fellow Twig is on board for a number of tracks, some of which were co-written with Steve Kalinich who you might remember co-wrote a number of songs for The Beach Boys.
This record might as well be a new Lemon Twigs record, and I mean that in the very best way. It's full of stunning melodies, gorgeous harmonies and just the right amount of quirk so you won't forget who you are listening to. Physical media isn't due until next month, but you can stream "Till The Morning" on all of your favorite sites. I'm already hooked and I've only listened once.

I just saw it out and wondered what you would think. I was kind of hoping/imagining it would NOT sound like a new Lemon Twigs record because then why is it a solo record? I suppose we could get two acts for the price of one but thought it might be somewhat different musically or somehow to explain why this had to be. Thoughts? (Will listen today!)
I would prefer a record that sounded like a Lemon Twigs record than say, a vanity side project foray into a genre that may not have worked. If it ain't broke... That said, it is a bit more orchestral than a Twigs record, and maybe Brian just wanted to call the shots.
I received the email about the release this morning and downloaded it right away. I wasn't very impressed with the single but I'm really looking forward to listening to this one. Even half a twig is better than most.
I agree with you regarding the single, but it might be the weakest track on the album.
Well, that's very cool. Of course, I'm prejudiced, for obvious reasons. 😎
Oh that makes me happy! Thanks Sal
Half a twig! That made me laugh, cmealha. You put the "ha" in cmealha. I've listened to it and as Sal says, it's very much in the Lemon Twigs wheelhouse. At first blush, it's quite good and like all their music I'm sure it'll grow on me. Feels likely to be on my best of the year list. Maybe the music is just pouring out of them and hence the solo album! I'd still feel more comfortable if it was like, an acoustic album or hard rock banger and thus "different." I mean, I haven't even seen them in concert yet! Ok, Michael, you're up next!
After a first run-through, it is much more mellow than I expected. No wows like the Twigs' "How Can I Love Her More" but there's enough to make me look forward to the next spin. Very melodic and musical as would be expected but I had to adjust to the laid-back tone of the album. My faves so far are "Flash in the Pan", "Company", and "Useless Tears".
Glad I can make somebody laugh ;-)
Re: How Can I Love Her More
Some of my favorite Yankees games were the games where every one was getting a base hit. Maybe a bunt, or a sac fly. A stolen base. Good pitching. Hitting home run after home run is exciting, of course. But not necessary to win a game. This record will unfold beautifully.
A triple is much more exciting than a home run. Small ball is the best!
Will have to listen a few more times and try not to compare to the Lemon Twigs' last two records, which I absolutely WORSHIP, but that will be difficult! I know I'll come to love this one as well. Such talent.
