Totally Inspired Random Post Of The Week: Cher & Harry Nilsson

Unlikely bedfellows? Maybe. Maybe not. This one-off duet between Cher & Harry Nilsson on Holland Dozier Holland’s classic “A Love Like Yours” would have made more sense in 1966, but in 1975, it was unexpected. So much so, it’s all but forgotten. Phil Spector wasn’t exactly popular in 1975 and he still hadn’t killed anybody…that we know of. But man, this may be the best version of all.

Yeah, nice one!

That was fun. I'm guessing the flip is Cher's not great solo version.

My copy is a promo, so same track on both sides. But the standard has a solo Cher track called "Hanging On."

Never would have guessed that was Cher - very cool! "Phil Spector hadn't killed anyone yet" made me laugh out loud. I don't know what I enjoy more, your words or your song choices!

This is one of those recordings that always rises to the top.

That's awesome. Her and Meat Loaf made a lot more sense as duet partners than this unlikely pairing, but it works. Spector did this and then moved on to Leonard Cohen's worst solo album. Go figure!
