For her third release, Sarah Quintana has created a true Louisiana record. "Baby Don't" is sweet and raw, full of melody and joy. She's joined by some of New Orleans best, including Leyla McCalla, Louis Michot, Corey Ledet, and the ubiquitous Rex Gregory on horns and woodwinds. Quintana lights things up with her Cajun takes on classics like "Let The Good Times Roll" and "Rollin' & Tumblin," and burns softly and slowly on the gorgeous "How Long."
This is a great new addition to my Louisiana collection and just maybe, you will dig it, too.

Ironically, she became somewhat famous in NO when her 1st lp was released. For the first time anyone could recall, Offbeat gave it a very negative review. Which is obviously the right of any critic to do, but it was also painfully obvious that the reviewer had never actually listened to the record. It caused a stir in the NO community and got her a ton of airplay in response. Looking forward to hearing this one.
That's some story. I had never heard that before.
She's new to me - this sounds really, really good. Looking forward to hearing the rest of the album!

Just added to my play. Never heard of her, but I’ll listen to her on my way down to NOLA for French Quarter Fest tomorrow.
Another new one for me! Very nice. Right in my wheelhouse.
Goddamn that first song is gorgeous, just gorgeous. Gorgeous is sooooo welcome in these fucked-up times. Excuse my French (but not Sarah's in her version of Rollin' And Tumblin', which was solid, too, but not the gargantuan of gorgeous that How Long was).

Lovely voice!
