Todd, My Godd!

The quartet of musical heroes' birthdays concludes today with Todd Rundgren's 77th.

Over the years, I have created mixes, eight or nine I believe, that featured the four giants in my musical world- Paul McCartney, Brian Wilson, Ray Davies & Todd.  Due to a number of life's distractions, I kept it simple this year. My head wouldn't allow much more.

I could go on about how Todd Rundgren's music has affected me since the very first time I saw him live almost 50 years ago, and over 150 times since. It might be more, actually. But with Todd, I find I am either preaching to the choir or talking to deaf ears. There seems to be no middle. It's either all or "Last stop, 'Something/Anything?' This bus is going back to the garage."

Rundgren started a new tour last night, a continuation of last year's "Me/We" tour, calling it "Still Me/Still We," because "the message still needs to be heard." Songs in the tour's set list went deep, with a number of rarely played tracks. But even if you're not fan, it should be easy to glean the message from the titles.

Secret Society
Stood Up
Beloved Infidel
Kindness
Woman's World
Down With the Ship
Honest Work
Fascist Christ
Hawking
Worldwide Epiphany
The Last Ride

Happy Birthday Todd!

I hope you've got at least one more record in you.

There is kind of a theme going on with that list, isn't there?

Yeah, come on Todd, just one more, you can do it... but please, no more collaborations.
