A FEW NOTES:

Weller's "A Kind Revolution" left me cold upon its release. The opening track "Woo Se Mama" got under my skin and it pretty much set the table. But then he released five excellent records in a row, so I went back with different ears and it has become a favorite. I still don't like "Woo Se Mama," but I absolutely love "Long Long Road."

The Sharon Marie track is a Brian Wilson production from 1964. It is a pop gem that became a Beach Boys masterpiece five years later.

I hadn't thought about the Brian Protheroe album in years, but then Paul Weller covered "Pinball" on his new record. Here's the original.

The Carla Thomas is a favorite and it didn't even crack the Top 100, as far as I can tell with some half-assed research.

Two Words: "Mumbo Rocks!"

Other than you, I don't think I've ever read anything positive about "Mumbai". I've always loved that track. It's just balls out, free and fun. One of my favorite Macca tracks.

Well done Sal -- Thanks!

The Carla Thomas is outrageously good.

With Pinball you mention Paul Weller's new album; what do you make of it? (If you've discussed before I missed)

I like the Weller, though not as much as his first covers LP "Studio 150." New one is bit more demanding and so I am not reaching for it the way I do so many other Weller records.
