DeJohnette was a guy for every setting. His first Special Edition album with Murray and Blythe on saxes is one of my favorites.
Jack was one of the finest drummers and a good pianist, too. Here he is with Grenadier, Medeski and Scofield in 2017 https://youtu.be/4Bx1aFSUUJQ

Somehow, this is just what I needed to listen to this morning.
Bitches Brew was may introduction to Miles and virtually the whole jazz world. The album was a reduced price double album.
RIP and a great start to the day here in London.
Now, jazz may not be the marmalade I would spread on my musical toast, so I'm only commenting because of a couple of nice coincidences. While travelling on holiday I've been re-reading Nick Kent's "The Dark Stuff" and there's a couple of good interviews / articles on Miles Davis and David Johansen /the New York Jets, both featured here recently. All I was going to say was, they're well worth the time to read. That's all. Over and out. Cheers!
