Every now and then, while combing through my external hard drives for long lost music, I find something I didn't know I had, let alone existed, like Lou Reed performing at a gala to benefit the Archive Of Contemporary Music, which took place at a fairly small club in N.Y.C. called S.O.B.'s, which stood for Sounds Of Brazil. (I saw a number of excellent shows there, including Joe Jackson.)
This show from 12/6/94, runs a little over 30 minutes and is mostly Lou and a guitar, until Laurie Anderson and her violin joins him for a song or two. The recording sounds great, as does Lou.
If you are a fan of Lou Reed, you will dig this.
If you aren't, see ya next week.

SOB's was a terrific room. Actually saw Brian Wilson do a show there when the Don Was documentary "I Just Wasn't Made for These Times" came out in 1995.
What a setlist! Listening to this show right now ... the sound is incredible. And I have a Smokey playlist with like 15 versions of "Tracks Of My Tears" so it's a real pleasure to hear The Lou sing it. Thanks for sharing this Sal!
Thanks, this looks great! I only went to S.O.B. once, a superb gig with Baaba Maal.

A Halloween Treat. Thank You. Mark
I would see Lou and Laurie eating outside of Le Gamin by Sheridan Square often since I worked in the area.I would give him the "LOOOOOOUUUUU!" from my truck and he would wave me away. Lou was cool.He got in Johnny Adams's face during a Doc Pomus tribute at Saint Ann's.Johnny played one of his own songs that wasn't a Doc song and Lou went all Brooklyn on Johnny. Cool.
ah-mazing and SOB seems on point for Swee'Lou...
Ha, perhaps like Eric S., I actually misread the hed. I only saw Lou once, at a club in San Francisco in the late 70s. One of the most memorable shows I ever saw. He came out, played for like 15 minutes, got pissed off about something, and stormed off. (I think it was in the Bay Area air -- around that time Elvis Costello cut a show short in Berkeley.) Anyway, the lights came on and we just sat there for like half an hour; I guess we still had drinks. But eventually Lou came back and played for like an hour and a half, fully committed. Turned out to be a terrific show. Bruce H.
