According to my friend's site originalsproject Helen recorded "It's My Party" before Lesley Gore:
"North London teenager Helen Shapiro zipped to Nashville for some sessions during a break in her early 1963 UK tour (with a group called the Beatles opening for her!), recording "It's My Party" at that time."
He also says that Phil Spector produced a version by the Crystals (actually the Blossoms) but it's never been issued.
Yeah, I guess I'd never heard her voice, and was taken aback when she sang her first line! C in California PS Paul wasn't there because she told him "Baby you can drive my car" so he was in Helen Wheels. I'll show myself out.
Helen Shapiro gets points just for lip syncing so well and gamely dealing with all their improv, including George pretending to slap her face? P.S. Every week should be Beatles week!

When ever I saw Amy Winehouse I thought of Helen as her grandmother.
I'm digging Beatles Anthology 4! Thx for this
She toured with the Beatles. The Beatles were the opening act!
Great cover song too
That's adorable!!! 😎
Wow! I guessed that Ringo would be the missing Fab 4 member. I was dead wrong.
Yes, you were…because Paul is dead!

It gives off a weird vibe, like nobody including Helen wanted to be there even though her best buddies The Beatles were on stage with her..

Great video! Her voice is deeper than theirs!
Nice!

Very enjoyable memory from times past. Thanks
Ear to ear smile!
Karen and I haven't been able to get rid of this ear worm since we listened. Thanks a lot! :-(
