Burning Wood's Great Zip File Fiasco Of 2025, Episode Two: "I'm Being Played, Right?"

It is Day Seven of email volleys with the company that has been taking my money for 15 years so that your downloads can be one-click simple and hassle free. Each email came from a different person with a different suggestion. All suggestions proved useless.

The last email looked promising for a minute.

Change the URL so that it is secure, meaning the URL should begin with HTTPS and not HTTP.
They claim when they clicked on this link---

https://sh-cp14.lax2.servername.online/~burnw0/acpac.zip

---they downloaded the Action Packed Weekend Mix from a couple of weeks ago.

I tried. It didn't work.

They suggested a different machine or a different browser.

I tried both. They didn't work.

This is what I saw.

And this is what I told them.

I've yet to hear back.

I don't have the head or the energy to escalate this any further.

Something inside of me believes I should be refunded this year's fee which was paid in October, and have some sort of compensation for the last 5 years, since those files cannot be accessed by you.

Something inside of me believes, they will tell me to take a hike.

Moving forward, I'll figure something out, but I can't help but think I am being played.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

GOD BLESS US ALL, EVERY ONE!

That sucks! Best wishes on getting it sorted out.

Breakin' In My Heart might be my favorite of Tom Verlaine's solo songs.

Not enough staff for a real live person to be available to help you.

When stuff like this happens to me I can't help but wonder if we're in an episode of Black Mirror! Say they say in French ... Merde!

Yes, I haven't been able to download anything on your site for several months. I don't download a lot, because I have a lot of the same recordings you do, but sometimes there is a mix that looks great, or some music I haven't heard. They should compensate you, but I doubt they will. Thanks for sharing all of your music and knowledge throughout the years. Have a happy holiday season!

Same as OG, it worked fine for me too.

Worked fine for me. I am using Chrome. Just right clicked on the link, then Saved File As. So sorry you are going through all this hassle. After 15 years, they should be taking care of you like a VIP.

Well, I've tried with Firefox, Safari and Chrome and it's a no-go on all three for me. I guess dat's dat.

Hmmm i see you are using safari the Apple browser. I am an Apple guy and have had experienced situations where Apple will not play nice with Windows based software. This is maybe why you are having problems? I'm no expert but .....

It DLed for me, too, and, actually, easier than has happened for some months, now. Previously, it'd DL, but get held up til I clicked to reinforce that, yes, I wanted it. This time it DLed straightaway (after a few second pause), no second click needed. I'm on Chrome.

I clicked on the link and the download started immediately. Took less than a minute to finish. So, success!

Seems about par for the course anymore. Good luck on the refund.

It worked for me, using Safari on an older iMac with Monterey v12.7.6. Maybe it works for you after a restart?
Thanks for the mix, somehow I missed it the first time.

Hi Sal, it downloaded quickly and easily for me using Chrome on my android phone.

I wasn't even after the acpac zip thing but tested it & Firefox dl'd it no trouble. Don't know what that implies. Wish you well in asking for a refund but I wouldn't hold your breath with these guys.

Okay, so maybe I will look at the glass being half full. Even though I have tried three browsers and two machines to no avail, the bottom line is, I don't need to download the zip files. I already have the music. So, as long as it is working for everyone else, I'll leave it at that.

There!

Glass. Half. Full. DAMN IT!

Sal could u just give YouTube link for tracks? then we'd just have to click. BS but maybe a workaround!

have you heard (perhaps via reddit?) of any other users having trouble with the provider?

Yes I had forgotten that. Kept getting flagged as 'malicious'......

Curiouser and curiouser!

Sending you positive energy. Just to add to those for whom the link works, it does work for me too. Born lucky!
