The first thing I was going to say about The Greenberry Woods was that the last time I listened to them was the 90's. I really enjoyed those first two records on Sire, and I wondered why I stopped listening. As it turned out, there was nothing to listen to. They stopped making records until 2018. Here I was thinking, I have a lot to catch up on. Instead, it wasn't my fault for a change.
That said, the new album, "It's All Good, Sugar..." is a killer. And it's aptly named.
There is so much melody and jangle, my cheeks hurt from smiling.
This comes 8 years since their last release and while I need to remind myself what I loved about their first two...it's been awhile...I can say confidently, I don't remember loving them as much as I loved "It's All Good, Sugar..."
If I had one nit to pick it's this. They seem to have three different lead singers, or that's how it sounds to my ears. One of those three voices is not quite as good as the other two, making those couple of songs weaker than the rest. As I said, I am picking nits, but thought it was an honest complaint, since this could have been a perfect record.
Still, "It's All Good, Sugar..." is one of the best records of the year.

The band’s 2018 album House is a compilation of unreleased songs (Bandcamp). Making this their first new album since 1995’s Big Money Item and more impressive that after 30 years they create something so amazing and timeless. Thanks for this :)

Did you ever run across Splitsville? Greenberry member, Brandt Huseman was in both groups back in the day. Same power pop stuff.
It's All Good, Sugar bandcamp page states the band consists of three original members supplemented by drummer Joe Parsons and keys Paul Kyrsiak, both from Myracle Brah.

Oh man if you don't know Splitsville then you are in for a real treat! Both Huseman brothers were in it. Say it quietly, but they also did a Christian album as 'The Stereo Twins' called Good News. Not in my wheelhouse but it definitely also has some GREAT songs on it.
Went to Bandcamp sampled bits of their album. No doubting some influences, they could grow on me
That last clips (That won't make ..) intro sounded Iike a Liam and Noel, an influence which I liked.
Hey Sjm, to clarify - Matt and Brandt are big readers of religious history. They are not Christians and never considered the Stereo Twins album a 'Christian album' although they understand why some people see it that way. It could have very well been an album about the life of the Buddha or Mohammed. Appreciate the kind words!
Oh, man -- The Stereo Twins! Haven't thought of that album in an age. "Marianne" is one of those songs that when I run across it randomly, I have to play it 3-4 times. That chorus slays me every time.
