"Joe Jackson Undercover" : THE WEEKEND MIX

Does anyone know the story of Dale DeVere? You know, the one about how she is really Joe Jackson, and how she is credited as a back-up vocalist on his "Night & Day 2" album, but it is really just Joe...in drag? Anyone? Anyone?

Well, here's the "WEEKEND MIX" of Joe Jackson covers, featuring everyone from Frank Zappa and Gamble & Huff to XTC and Steely Dan to Graham Parker and Abba to David Bowie and John Lennon and Neil Finn. I offer you the music, can you get back to me on Dale DeVere?

TRACK LIST

Scary Monsters (Berlin, 3/11/08)
Senses Working Overtime (Bottom Line, 7/13/99)
Mayor Of Simpleton (Boulder, 3/27/03)
Knowing Me, Knowing You (Dublin, 2/29/08)
Dirty Love (Dublin, 2/29/08)
Girl (Boulder, 3/27/03)
I Feel Possessed (Mercury Lounge, 2003)
You Can't Be Too Strong (Warsaw, Bklyn. 4/12/03)
I'm Gonna Make You Love Me (unknown source)
Reelin' In The Years (Beacon Theatre, 2004?)

Quality is mostly excellent, but some sources are weaker than others. Hey....you'll love it.

And by the way, if anyone out there has the following:

Original single version of "Money Changes Everything" by The Brains
"Working Girl" by The Members
"Man Attack" by The Revillos (The Rezillos)

I'd be grateful.

hey sal...very nice review of dmb (i am referring to the one at altercation)...anything resembling a pan of that band's music will find a place in my heart; in the case of your review, it was a good read, as well... incidentally, i've got the brains "money changes everything" on a 45 and i've got a rezillos 45, too, though i'm not sure if it's the tune you're looking for...so, next time you visit...steven

I LIKE it when he sounds like that. I think he also did it in the performance with Ethel and Todd Rundgren of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps."

If he did a whole album sounding like that, it would be DELICIOUS.

Also, doesn't he look pretty and Jewish in drag to anyone else? Is that why he doesn't have the typical thin lips of the Anglo Irish?

He is amazing - he is like the entire sack from Santa Claus - EVERYTHING.

And I love Mayor of Simpleton so please post the link to his cover of it.
