"...And Speaking Of David Rawlings' Machine" : THE WEEKEND MIX

With the long-awaited record just a few weeks away, I thought a good warm-up would be this stellar show from Largo in L.A., recorded on 2/13/09. For those who don't know, David Rawlings is Gillian Welch's right-hand man and of course she is his, so DRM doesn't sound much different than a Gillian Welch performance.

Some special guests appear with David and Gillian, including Benmont Tench and Jon Brion.

This Gillian picture looks like it's from Strictly Bluegrass in SF, CA. Caught Day 2 on Saturday for Richie Havens. Est. 750,000 for the three day festival!!! As I was walking out of the woods from Richie, I heard a hauntingly slow version of The Weight. Upon song's end did I realize it was Gillian and Emmylou Harris. Goosebumps!
