The great Dale Hawkins has passed after a long bout with colon cancer.

I'm not great with the obituary thing.

So I will just say this---

I had the pleasure of seeing and meeting Dale Hawkins on two separate occasions, while he was performing during the Ponderosa Stomp in New Orleans. His enthusiasm on stage and his warmth off stage were highlights of both trips to the Crescent City.

I took these photos at the 2008 Stomp.

Nice job, Dale.

Oh Suzie Q, sad loss, innovative artist, good song.

We also lost Doug Fieger from The Knack. Which upon reports lately was to be expected. He was only 57. The Big C is a killer.

And of course what's always on everyone's lips and minds, Keith Richards is still alive!
